Allah’s last messenger, the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him), is indeed a complete mercy for our present world, and even after death, he remains a complete mercy for the next world. Thus, your blessed existence is the ‘mercy of both worlds.’ There are numerous aspects to these two worlds, numerous phases of human life. Human history is filled with countless instances of conflict and strife, and for all of these, the noble Prophet (peace be upon him) is the embodiment of mercy upon mercy.
These days, there is much talk of global war in the world. I see that some people, indulging in pleasure, discuss the prospect of a third world war on social media. This increases their followers, and they earn money. Rarely do they speak of peace, show compassion and mercy for humanity, or talk about peace and reconciliation. Such people will show very little concern. For guidance, I opened Sahih al-Bukhari. I found the chapter titled ‘The Book of Jihad’ in front of me. Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari has brought forth a chapter and titled one part of the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) under this chapter. The translation is as follows: ‘Do not wish for confrontation (war) with the enemy.’ Imam al-Bukhari has brought three hadiths under this title.
Remember! The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) is in the battlefield, the enemy is present, the battle has not yet begun, the whole day has passed, and evening has set in. After the Maghrib prayer, the Prophet (peace be upon him) addressed the army, announcing his military policy, saying, ‘O people! Do not wish for confrontation (war) with the enemy, but rather supplicate to Allah for protection, and yes, when there is a confrontation with these enemies, stand firm’ (Bukhari: 3025, Muslim: 1742). Allah! Allah! Our Prophet (peace be upon him) is granting humanity safety. You are a complete mercy for humanity. Through your merciful existence, humanity finds peace. Therefore, most interpreters and scholars believe that jihad and fighting are not among the fundamental pillars of Islam, but rather they are a means to end strife, corruption, and injustice. Just as criminals, murderers, terrorists, etc., are punished within a country to prevent injustice and oppression, these punishments are for stopping oppression and ensuring peace and security. They have no other purpose. The real purpose, which is not only fundamental but also eternal, is the worldly and otherworldly well-being of every individual, and this purpose is achieved through preaching and propagation and continues indefinitely.
In 1914, the First World War began with the assassination of the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne and his wife. Franz Ferdinand harbored peaceful thoughts. A demand was made to Serbia to punish the terrorists involved in the incident. When this was not done, a war began that turned into a world war and continued for over four years. Millions of people died in this war. The lesson for today from this is that every country should rein in terrorists, and it is not good for the well-being of peacekeeping leaders to be unjustly killed.
It is also worth remembering that the Second World War, which began in 1939 and ended in 1945, was sown when the victors of the First World War imposed inhuman and humiliating conditions on defeated Germany. The result was that a politician like Hitler emerged within the German nation, who proclaimed the freedom, dignity, and greatness of the German nation. He ruled for twelve years and was an extremely popular leader, but he was nationalist and extremist; thus, he began to seize Europe by force. Thus, this war also became a world war, and more than before, that is, in the six-year World War, eight crore people were killed. Nearly 240 million were disabled, wounded, and displaced. Hundreds of thousands of children became orphans, and millions of women became widows. Humanity learned from both these wars that the common organization of all countries, the United Nations, came into existence. Everyone became its member, from kings, presidents, prime ministers, chancellors, and sultans, etc. The occupied country became free and became a member of the United Nations. Mutual cooperation increased. Yes! However, regional wars continued, but humanity remained safe at the global level.
The sad and regrettable thing is that at the end of the First World War, the seed of another world war was also sown in Palestine, meaning the settlement of Zionists began. Until the beginning of the Second World War, this seed had become a tree, and at the end of its term, two and a half years later, the Zionist tree had become fruitful when it was announced to establish a country called Israel here. Because of this Zionist tree, today, nearly a century later, the world is standing on the brink of another world war again. Now that this war is showing such horrific signs, may Allah protect us. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has perpetrated atrocities against the people of Gaza. The whole world has condemned this atrocity with extreme severity, and there has been a strong outcry against this injustice from all over the world. This means that the humanity of the entire earth is one and is the proponent and seeker of peace and security.
Two agreements were made to recognize the State of Palestine, whose capital is Jerusalem, but not only were they not implemented, but Israel kept the people of Palestine in a continuous state of war. In this ongoing war, the oppressed people of Palestine launched an attack on October 7, and now, after six months, due to Israeli oppression and the resistance of the oppressed, the world is standing on the threshold of a third world war. Ismail Haniyeh has before him the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, that when war is imposed, then stand firm, be patient.
Today, respected Ismail Haniyeh has provided evidence of acting upon it! By Allah, it is not only impeccable but also perfect. It is a masterpiece of ‘beautiful patience’ in the words of the Quran. Israel targeted Ismail Haniyeh’s family’s car, in which his three sons Hazeem, Mohammad, and Amir were martyred. Four grandsons, Khalid, Rizan, Manea, and Amal, were also martyred. Mohammad’s six-year-old daughter, whose name was Malak, was severely injured. Due to the unavailability of treatment in Gaza, she also became a martyr three or four days later.
When Ismail Haniyeh was informed of the martyrdom of his three sons and four grandsons and the injuries to his granddaughter Malak, the world saw that the word ‘La hawla wala quwwata illa billah’ was on his tongue and the perfect light of beautiful patience was on his face. He said: The martyrdom of thousands of my sons and daughters in the way of Allah is also a sacrifice in front of Allah. Our determination is firm; we will not be threatened by oppression and tyranny. Gaza is a land of great sacrifice. We have been oppressed by the Zionists for years, but we will not retreat; we will stand firm in the face of oppression. It is a sign of the moral health of our society and the steadfastness of our nation. We are prepared to fight until the last drop of blood.
When the world is in a state of war, it is the duty of us, the people of Pakistan, to forget our mutual differences… if we cannot forget them, then suspend them and become a strong nation. Be true Pakistanis who recite Kalima Tayyaba. Make a strong alliance with your guardian brothers and sons so that there is no gap left. Pakistan is our home, its integrity is not only ours but also the integrity of the people of Palestine and Kashmir. I wish that the rule of my pak watan will go forward. Struggle to save humanity from a new world war. So much so that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Don’t wish for war.” Let us play a role in ending this desire. Ameen,Ya Rabbul Alameen
