A Surprising Yet Joyful August

By the grace and love of Allah, August 2024 has brought such a promise of happiness for us, the people of Pakistan, that it has nurtured and fulfilled our hopes. Pakistan’s Olympian, Arshad Nadeem, has won the World Championship at the Olympic Games held in Paris. He is 27 years old. The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, held a ceremony in honor of this hero of Pakistan. Arshad Nadeem repeatedly expressed his gratitude for this victory, remembering his Merciful Lord. On the occasion of August 14, he called this medal a gift for Pakistan. Arshad Nadeem is six feet four inches tall. His arms are long, his chest broad, his wrists strong, and his hands powerful. When the javelin in his hand was thrown, it set a new Olympic record that seems unlikely to be broken anytime soon.

As I delved into the field of biology, I came across an article in the February 8, 2024, issue of the scientific magazine Nature. This article is based on the research of Mr. Denis Noble, a pioneering professor of biological systems at Oxford University. I also listened to his lecture on biological systems. He explained that, while biological scientists have long said that the consciousness of human identity is created by genes, this theory has been proven wrong. As far as genes are concerned, the reality is that:

“Genes don’t create us, body and mind.”

These genes do not create us, nor do they shape our body, mind, or consciousness.

“We control them and change them when we need to.”

But who is this “we”? Yes! After scientific research, scientists are now acknowledging that this “we” is the “soul.”

Denis Noble further states:

“Genes are not the blueprint for life… there are switches in genomes, those switches are controlled by other physiological processes, not by the genome itself.”

As far as genes are concerned, they do not design or plan life. Rather, there are many switches within the genetic system that are controlled by other physiological processes, not by the genome itself.

SubhanAllah! This other unknown physical control is spiritual control, which is in Allah’s hands. Scientists are acknowledging this, but they are hesitant to mention Allah’s name. Within every cell, the genes keep switching on and off. How does this happen, and who controls this on and off switch, is still unknown, but it is certain that all of this is related to ancestral heritage. Remember, every child mostly inherits their physical structure and behavior from their parents and many other traits from their forefathers. This means that the switch for a tall height, strong bones, etc., is all in Allah’s hands. Therefore, the first gratitude for receiving a blessing should be to the Merciful Lord.

All of Arshad Nadeem’s physical blessings were given to him by the Merciful Lord through the switching on and off of certain genes, and only He knows. The world was stunned that a young man from a small village suddenly became a global hero and one of Pakistan’s most important figures on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14, 2024. In this regard, this August has become surprising yet joyful for all of us—Alhamdulillah!

Fifty-three years ago, in December 1971, we faced a political defeat. This political humiliation turned East Pakistan into Bangladesh. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Prime Minister of East Pakistan, became the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and was named “Banga Bandhu.” After nearly four years in power, he was killed by his own people, and his entire family was wiped out. His two daughters, Hasina and Rehana, who were abroad, survived. Nearly 20 years later, when Hasina Wajid returned, she became the Prime Minister of the country. I was in Dhaka at that time when Sheikh Mujib’s residence was made into a national museum. I visited this museum the day after its inauguration. When I saw the Paltan Maidan, the thought crossed my mind that the tides will surely turn. This thought did not come to me out of the blue but after discussions with intellectuals from Dhaka, Chittagong, and Rajshahi. When I returned, I wrote a travelogue and named the book “Aur India Sandwich Ban Gaya” (“And India Became a Sandwich”). At that time, people found this name strange. Today, that strange name has become relevant to the situation of August 14, 2024. This has only been possible by Allah’s grace.

The ideology of Pakistan has risen with full force from the stormy waves of the Bay of Bengal, demolishing the stony walls of enmity against Pakistan. The same oppression that came from where it was inflicted upon the Bengali people and students has returned to its origin. The person who was exiled, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has returned and taken the seat of Hasina Wajid. The iron and stone statues of Sheikh Mujib are being smashed with hammers. The walls of Bangladesh have been cleared of Hasina Wajid’s pictures. The slogan “Pakistan Zindabad” (Long Live Pakistan) is being chanted. When those raising the slogans were taunted as “Razakars,” the people of Bangladesh adopted this taunt as their slogan. It meant that they did not want to separate from Pakistan for the sake of Allah, and they endured the punishment for this desire for 53 years, seeing their elders hanged. The enmity between Bangladesh and Pakistan ended in August 2024. Therefore, August 2024 is surprising yet joyful in this regard as well.

Those who harbor enmity against the homeland while living in Pakistan have realized that the venomous pit of their hearts will remain closed and will not open. It seems to me that these snakes will neither get air nor food in the closed pit, and thus their fate is to lose their lives inside the pit.

Our prayer is that when the snakes die inside the pit, a torrential rain of the ideology of Pakistan will pour down on these hearts, creating a garden-like atmosphere. “What is the meaning of Pakistan? There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah” will reign supreme. Our nation will attain a system of justice. Sectarianism will suffocate. Externalism will witness an “exodus.” The storm of misbehavior will be destroyed. The global situation has long demanded that all this happen as soon as possible, but the message of August 2024 now seems to be that our homeland is ready to emerge from the artificial crisis, to follow the straight path, and to throw the javelin of peace and security far and wide, Insha’Allah!

The scene is surprising, but it is turning joyful.
