Allah Almighty’s creations are countless masterpieces. Among these masterpieces is the human existence. It is stated: “We shall soon show them Our signs in the universe and within their own selves, until it will become clear to them that it (the truth of Allah, His revealed Quran, and His Messenger) is the truth. Is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?” (Surah Fussilat: 53)
Remember! The greatest masterpiece within the human existence is the human brain. These days, it brings immense joy to the people of Pakistan that a global scholar with both Islamic and scientific knowledge, Dr. Zakir Naik, has graced our land.
The Government of Pakistan invited him. Prior to this, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, delivered a courageous speech at the United Nations, highlighting the Palestinian issue effectively. Now, the government’s second significant action is inviting Dr. Zakir Naik, who is an exile and a migrant only for the sake of Allah’s religion, to Pakistan. For this, we, the people of Pakistan, thank our Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and warmly welcome Dr. Zakir Naik to Pakistan.
I have research from scientists around the world on the human brain in front of me. However, I decided to present in my column the research of a neuroscientist from the same country from which Dr. Zakir Naik was exiled. This scientist’s name is Dr. Saurabh Mehrotra. He says that the human brain contains 86 billion neurons. The neurons responsible for communication between them are separate. One neuron can communicate with nearly ten thousand other neurons. The neurons that carry out this communication are called neuroglia neurons.
Dear readers! One fact I have mentioned in several of my columns is that when two neurons exchange information, a spark is produced. It’s like a small light bulb lights up. This spark or light is called a synapse. Consider this: there are nearly 8 billion humans on Earth. Whether they are at home, in factories, driving cars, or traveling on airplanes, all 8 billion people combined cannot light more than 8 billion bulbs. But within the brain of a single human, 86 billion bulbs remain lit day and night. Now imagine the number of bulbs lit within the brains of 8 billion humans. No one can estimate this. I say that if the electrical power of the brains of 8 billion humans were somehow gathered, it would generate such enormous energy that it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to measure in megawatts.
Dr. Mehrotra says: “The human brain memory is indeed a genius thing that we are gifted with. Human brain memory is far away from the imagination of humans.” There is no doubt that the memory system of the human brain is astonishing, a gift to us. The memory system of the human brain is far beyond human estimates. Furthermore, the back part of the human brain passes through the neck and down the spinal cord to the end of the spine. It is an impressive nervous system, relying on countless neurons or nerve cells. Each neuron consists of thousands of synapses.
Dear readers! From the entire human nervous system, it seems that the human body is illuminated, and the number of bulbs within this system is beyond count. They exceed billions and even trillions. The number of bulbs in the human body may be equal to the number of stars shining in the billions and trillions of galaxies in the heavens. When all the bulbs of humans are added together, it is estimated that the number of stars in the visible heavens and the bulbs illuminated within the brains and nervous systems of the humans on Earth will be the same. That’s why NASA took a picture of an extremely small region of the earthly heavens. This picture, taken through the latest “James Webb Space Telescope,” was placed alongside a picture of the human brain. Both images appeared similar. If not told, it would be difficult to distinguish which picture was of the human brain and which was of a part of the earthly heavens, showcasing limited galaxies and their clusters.
Dr. Zakir Naik’s crime in India was that he and researchers like him were telling the people of the world that the same Creator who made the universe is the Creator and Owner of humans. O people! Move forward, research, and believe in this Lord. The final Messenger, Muhammad ﷺ, received the final book, the Holy Quran. Fourteen hundred and fifty years ago, this book proclaimed that whether you observe the cosmic realms or look within the human body, use telescopes or microscopes to peer into the human brain or its nervous system, who is upholding such a vast system everywhere? Read Ayat-ul-Kursi from the Quran, and you will find that the book revealed to the last Prophet, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, tells us that it is upheld by the One called “Al-Qayyum.” And He maintains this system in such a way that while being on the Throne, He observes every neuron and their synapses (bulbs), sees the thoughts and reflections between them. Before these thoughts and reflections are even spoken or form their existence in the air, they are already present before the Creator, Allah. He is a Witness over them and over everything.
After seeing Dr. Zakir Naik’s arguments, millions in India converted to Islam. They were converting rapidly, which led the Modi government of India, driven by religious prejudice, to exile him. They made him a migrant. In this modern world, we welcome this scholar of knowledge, an exile who enlightened the knowledge given by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with scientific evidence, thereby illuminating the minds of the people of India. This light is what frightened Narendra Modi. My prayer is that his fear will soon be dispelled.
