At present, there are two fields in God’s world that are the most advanced. The science of these fields is at the “pinnacle of excellence” in today’s time, meaning they are reaching the heights of perfection. The first field is the CERN laboratory, which will be the focus of today’s column. This laboratory is located on the border between France and Switzerland. Here, scientists discover particles smaller than atoms, even smaller than electrons, protons, and neutrons. Recently, a particle named the “W Boson” was discovered. This particle appears in the CERN laboratory’s detector but immediately disappears. It transfers into a particle called a neutrino. The neutrino behaves similarly, as it forms and then vanishes from the detector. It is speculated that perhaps it is formed in conjunction with dark matter. Dark matter and dark energy are separate sciences, and research on them is ongoing in CERN’s LHC (Large Hadron Collider).
The discovery of the W Boson is being hailed as a significant scientific breakthrough globally. This will reveal the role of this particle in our material world and its contribution to the structure of the universe. A point of pride for us Pakistanis is that Pakistani scientists are also a part of the CERN laboratory. In this recent discovery, at a depth of 100 feet in the lab, where the research results emerged, Pakistan’s flag is proudly displayed. This honor is due to the significant contribution of young Pakistani scientists, including Bilal Kayani, Ansar Iqbal, and Muhammad Ahmed. It is regrettable and disappointing that our nation does not yet have a culture of prominently showcasing such achievements in the media. Our assemblies are dominated by threats, fights, and abusive language, and the media indulges in and amplifies this. Discussions on education and social improvement, along with thoughtful proposals for societal betterment, are minimal. Nations and societies progress where the foundation of livelihood is scientific.
The electron is also a particle, and when it was discovered, electricity was created. Today, all the electrical appliances in our homes—whether it’s a fan, AC, a mosque’s loudspeaker, fridge, washing machine, or iron—are thanks to the discovery of this particle. Today, electric cars, motorcycles, and trains are already in the market. Efforts are even being made to build electric airplanes. All of this is due to one particle, the electron. Our mobile phones are charged by it, and our daily lives function because of it. The particles being discovered today could similarly revolutionize our lives. When the Higgs Boson was discovered, it was called the “God particle.” Afterward, neutrinos and other particles were discovered, and now the W Boson has been found. Let’s see which particle is discovered next that, like the electron, plays a transformative role in our lives, perhaps making electron-powered devices obsolete and paving the way for future technology to reach heights beyond imagination.
When we reflect on our bodies, we see that the Quran repeatedly invites humans to ponder their creation. I recently came across a book by Professor Dr. Keith Moore titled The Developing Human. The book has had ten editions published to date. Sadly, I must say that the importance of books has greatly diminished in our society and continues to fade. In contrast, in developed countries, both newspapers and books are widely printed and sold. Despite the fact that smartphone technology has come to us from the West, they still maintain a strong connection with books. Knowledge is preserved through pen and paper, which is an eternal truth. What is written in a book cannot be hacked, but everything on the internet can be hacked. That’s why Allah started the revelation of the final divine book with “Read.” The mention of the pen is not incidental. In the Holy Quran, it is said: “Read in the name of your Lord who created (man)… who taught by the pen, taught man what he did not know” (Al-Alaq: 4-5). The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the last messenger, and the revelation that came to him will remain until the Day of Judgment. Yes, benefit from the internet, but do not forget the pen and books. Let it not be that future generations forget how to hold a pen, let alone write.
Dr. Keith Moore’s book explains that the DNA of the cell from which humans are created is unique and distinct from all other living beings. This is precisely what is mentioned in Surah At-Tin of the Quran: “We have created man in the best of stature.” When the male and female cells meet, the Quran refers to them as “Nutfah Amshaj” (mixed drop), which in English is called a zygote. The male cell has 23 chromosomes, and so does the female cell. When these combine to form a zygote, all the hereditary characteristics of both the mother’s and father’s ancestors are stored within the zygote. There is a chapter in the Quran called Surah Al-Mu’minun, which begins with “The believers have indeed succeeded.” The notable point is that this is the 23rd chapter of the Quran, and the verse where the mention of human creation begins is verse 13. If you count the words from the first word “ثم” of this verse to “خلقاً اٰخر” in the next verse (14), they amount to 23 words. When I counted the words related to creation, they also amounted to 23. Adding these together, we get 46, which is the number of chromosomes in the human body. I am overwhelmed with awe! Today’s medical science, using microscopes, can explain what the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) informed us about 1,400 years ago. Who informed him? Allah, the All-Knowing and All-Aware, the Creator and Owner of humanity and the universe.
My friend, respected Qari Umar Jathol, always encourages me by saying that the current chaos is coming to an end. After General Syed Asim Munir, the current Army Chief, General Asim Malik has now become the new ISI Chief. The speeches by Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at the All Parties Conference on Gaza, led by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, show that Pakistan is a country with the most advanced technology, prepared to face any threat. May Allah protect our beloved nation, and may we all become guardians of our pure homeland, Ameen!
